Experience & Testimonials

A look at some of my experience spanning environmental education, science communication, training, research, and programme development.

Science Communication Training

Developed and delivered training in entomology, ecology, public speaking, and visitor engagement, helping interns build the confidence and skills to communicate science effectively.

Course Development

Worked with subject specialists to develop and project manage a post-qualifying course for counsellors working with children and young people, helping turn professional expertise into a clear and structured learning programme.

Woodland Outreach

Designed a funded woodland invertebrate outreach project, supporting the grant application and developing its activities, objectives, delivery plan, and evaluation.

Public Engagement

Delivered a Women in STEM talk using remarkable female invertebrates to explore the qualities of inspiring women in science, combining storytelling with accessible science communication.

University Programmes

Designed and delivered immersive tropical ecology and entomology programmes for university groups, combining specialist content with hands-on learning.

Visitor Interpretation

Developed accessible, engaging content for a museum-style butterfly exhibit, helping visitors understand the science and stories behind the species on display.

Research that shapes my approach

My work is informed by research as well as practical experience, helping me bring an evidence-based perspective to education.

Ecotourism as a Tool for Invertebrate Education

Exploring how environmental education can influence connection with nature and attitudes towards invertebrates. Presented at the Royal Entomological Society Student Forum 2026, with the paper submitted for publication.

A National-Scale Sampled Temperate Fuel Moisture Database

Co-author of a peer-reviewed paper in Scientific Data (Nature Portfolio), exploring how moisture levels in vegetation can help us better understand wildfire risk.

Ecological Field Research & Monitoring

My wider research experience includes ecological fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, and the development of field and sampling methods, giving me a strong evidence-based foundation for my education work.

What this experience means for your project

I bring together practical education experience, scientific knowledge, programme development, and an understanding of the people responsible for delivering education. This helps me create work that is engaging for the audience while still being realistic for the organisation delivering it.
